Pain is a symptom of many diseases. It is often denoted in Chinese saying as, “Nine out of ten diseases are related to pain”. Millions of people worldwide are still suffering seriously from pain with physical disability. Yet, most of the available medications could only provide temporary relief and do not offer a safe solution to the problem. Medicines were even recalled from the market for these drugs trigger life-threatening side effects.

Goals of investigating, identifying and developing a new and adequate knowledge of pain management and skills of treatments have become the main focus and concern of medical practitioners. A highly effective procedure and medicine with technological innovation with great successes need to emerge that could help patients to recover from their diseases radically.

All through these years of unceasing studiy and research in the fields of Chinese and modern medical sciences, with state's concern, experts from China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, now known as China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences (CACMS), have finally overcome a lot of problems and successfully developed a set of world leading herbal medicines under a state-level project of Ministry of Science and Technology of People’s Republic of China called "Spark Program"  that could help answering to all these concerns.

CAMCS is currently the most prestigious, largest medical institution in China and one of the World Health Organization collaborating centers for traditional medicine. It is one of the institutions where our Principal Acupuncturist and Herbalist, Dr. Jeffrey Chua Tse Fai, had attended  his  Chinese medicine education and trainings. He is fully supported under the “Spark Program”. He has gained popularity and good social reputation with his brilliant achievements in just a few years time and is favored by the majority of patients either in the Chinese community or among the Filipino population, like a spring breeze blowing over the whole archipelago.

The quest for modernization of Traditional Chinese Medicine is not anymore an ideology. It has already come into existence. In fact, we are now in a new era of Modern Chinese Medicine under the tireless support from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine has paved its way and transformed into Chinese Medical Sciences which has gone beyond the scope of western medical theories and breakthrough the framework of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is now widely accepted and becoming a trend for international practice.

Dr. Jeffrey Chua Tse Fai was invited by Philippine Academy of Acupuncture, Inc. in collaboration with Department of Health - PITAHC as speaker to share his knowledge and expertise on the topic “Comprehensive Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment Methods for Knee Osteoarthritis” during the 7th National Acupuncture Convention with the theme “Integrating Acupuncture in Philippine Setting” on December 3, 2015 at the Lung Center of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City.

Philippine Academy of Acupuncture, Inc. (PAAI) is an organization of medical and non-medical practitioners of acupuncture, duly recognized by the Philippine Institute of Traditional & Alternative Health Care (PITAHC) of the Department of Health.

Tuina Massage or Hand Manipulating Technique is one of the most effective methods in the treatmnt of knee osteoarthritis. We have already accumulated a lot of clinical experience which have brought back mobility for those paralytic patients who suffered from severe rheumatic arthritis. Actually, Knee osteoarthritis is not difficult to treat if seeks proper treatments immediately. Severe cases are often due to delay and had gone through wrong treatment process causing further damages to the knee. If treated early with correct methods by practitioners who have the full capability, the chance to achieve full recovery is definitely possible.

In acupuncture, needle technique is a very important aspect. Finger strength is an essential factor. It is associated with a smooth insertion to stimulate and create a power to produce a "needle grasp" effect. A pulling force that is being felt by using needle performed by acupuncturist  to help the patient to regain his own natural healing ability. Efficacy depends on how  good an acupuncturist can activate his internal energy through concentration to generate a powerful force that could travel through his fingers while puncturing the needle on acupoint down to the needle tip in order to produce a blasting effect right after the insertion that could  release stagnation.

Dr. Jeffrey Tse Fai Chua was invited by JCI Manila as guest speaker on the topic "Comprehensive Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment Methods for Patients with Cerebral Palsy" during their Golden Heart Manila 2015 on July 28, 2015 held at Manila Ocean Park.

Dr. Jeffrey Chua Tse Fai was invited by Bright Connection Cerebral Palsy and Autism Center in Sanya, Hainan Province, China during April, 2011 to share with their therapists his expertise in the treament of children with cerebral palsy by applying Pediatric Tuina.

Pediatric Tuina, also known as Infantile Massage, plays a vital role in the treatment of children with cerebral palsy. It is a clinical specialty of Traditional Chinese Medicine with theories based on the specific physiological and pathological characteristics of children. A skill exerted with strength and stroke varieties by hands or elbow of the practitioner on surface of children’s head, neck, trunk and extremities to stimulate the acupuncture points and meridians in order to dispel stasis, improve blood circulation, regulate the meridians. This application is gentle, safe, relaxing and easily accepted by young children.

Acupuncture plays an important role in the treatment of children with cerebral palsy and stroke patients as well to promote their functional recovery of muscles and nerve endings. In acupuncture, we use needles as a tool to open up muscular fibrosis for preventing and treating muscle atrophy for it could improve oxygen flow and blood circulation then enable to reinforce vital energy. Needle is also used for bloddletting to release body internal heat. It is believed that when there is damage to the brain cells, other healthy cells can replace its functionality, but it needs external stimulation such as tuina, acupuncture or moxibustion in order to reconstruct the brain for development, especially children compensatory brain function is strong,

Although TCM has many effective methods, but using single method will make the role more restricted. We have found it more appropriate to treat facial paralysis patients with comprehensive TCM methods in order to achieve the best therapeutic result.

Convincing improvement could be seen, observed and achieved often right after the treatment session, except for a few cases.  All symptoms could be completely eradicated or almost disappeared.  Skin of the face will become more smoother, glowing and get younger looking through the manipulation of our expert's hand by employing comprehensive TCM treatment methods.

We have already accumulated a lot of clinical experience with so many successful cases in the treatment of patients infected with pathogens that result in facial paralysis, known as  "Bell's Palsy". Even those, whose conditions are still serious after more than 3 months duration; wherein their own immune system was not able to help them to recover, who have been rejected or surrendered by other practitioners and almost about to give up. Don't worry, we still have the ability to manage these cases.

Symptoms of  "Bell's Palsy" are eyebrows asymmetry, droopy appearance around the eye and mouth on the affected side, saggy and swollen eye bug, shallow nasolabial groove , numbness in face, pain behind the ear and down to the neck, harden muscles on arm and tighten "Hegu" acupoint on the affected side.
